Special Funeral Grant
What is the Special Funeral Grant?
The Special Funeral Grant can be paid if a person dies at work. It is a benefit under the Occupational Injuries Benefit scheme.
Rules
To be eligible for this grant, the death must have resulted from:
- An accident at work,
- An accident while travelling directly to or from work
- An occupational disease.
The person must have paid a minimum of one week's PRSI.
This special funeral grant is paid under the Occupational Injuries Benefits scheme.
Rates
Special Funeral Grant: €850.
How to apply
To apply download and complete Death Benefit under OIB form
To apply you need:
- The original Death Certificate/interim Death Certificate
- A copy of the death notice
- A note of the funeral expenses.
