1 October deadline for special class places 2026-2027

If it’s your first time looking for a place for your child in a special school or special class you must first complete a Parents Notify form (below) by 1 October 2025 for the school year 2026-2027. The form will notify the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) that you require a place for your child.

If your form meets the criteria, you’ll get an eligibility letter from the NCSE. You will need this letter to apply for a place in a special class or special school for the 2026-2027 school year.

If you already have an eligibility letter, you don’t need to apply again. You can get an updated eligibility letter from your local Special Educational Needs Organiser (SENO).
