Since 1 September 2025, if you are aged over 70 and have the Free Travel Scheme pass, you are entitled to a Free Travel Companion (FT+C) Public Services Card. This means someone who is over 16 can travel with you for free.

Find out how your Public Services card can be updated to allow your companion travel with you for free.

You can get the Free Travel Scheme if you are aged 66 and live permanently in Ireland. It allows you to travel, free of charge, on public transport and some private bus and ferry services.
