Register to vote in the Presidential election before 7 October 2025

The Irish Presidential election will be held on Friday, 24 October 2025. Are you planning to vote?

You can vote in the Presidential election if you’re:

• An Irish citizen
• Aged 18 years or over, and
• Registered to vote

Check to see if you’re already registered to vote.

Register to vote

If you’re not on the register, you must register to vote on or before 7 October 2025. You can register online at checktheregister.ie.

Registering for a postal vote

If you’re eligible to vote by post, your application for postal and special votes must be received by your local authority on or before 29 September 2025. Find more about who can vote by post.

You cannot register to vote if you live outside Ireland, although there are some exceptions.
