Do you care for someone full-time?
Since 3 July 2025, the Carer's Allowance income disregard has increased.
The following income is not taken into account in the means test for Carer’s Allowance:
- If you are single, €625 (up from €450) of your total weekly income is not taken into account.
- If you are a couple (married, in a civil partnership, or cohabiting), the first €1,250 (up from €900) of your combined total weekly income is not taken into account.
From July 2025, the Carer’s Benefit income limit has also increased. The maximum you can earn is €625 a week (up from €450).
You may qualify for the Carer’s Allowance if your income is below a certain amount. The Carers Benefit is based on your social insurance contributions.
